We have just completed a new website for Bury Breakfast Club a business networking club based in Bury St Edmunds that meets twice a month for business networking over breakfast.
The Bury Breakfast Club wanted to gain more control over their website. They wanted the ability to be able to update content on their website and add networking events without having to call up or rely on a designer or developer to make changes on their behalf. They wanted to be able to manage new member bookings and monitor sales and analytics through the website platform.
After a meeting and discussion with one of the committee members from the club, it was clear that on this occasion Squarespace would be an ideal website platform to deliver on all their requirements and give the club the straightforward, reliable and easy to use website they required.
Adding Network Meeting Dates
The group wanted the ability to add meeting dates to the website easily. Squarespace has a built-in page type called an Events Page which makes creating and adding events to a website a breeze. We love it, and our clients love it too. Add your event, create a map and post it to your social media accounts with one click. The group is now adding and updating their own events. They are even now adding member images to the meeting dates to denote which member will be doing their 10-minute presentation on that day.
It was essential that visitors to the website who were interested in booking to join the club for breakfast had an easy way to do this via the website. The booking page and booking button allow visitors to quickly book a meeting date and pay via the website using either their credit card or Paypal. It's quick and easy and the committee of the group now have one place to manage and monitor all new member bookings.
There are a few forms on this website for collecting information. The booking form, new member application form and general enquiry forms etc... It was important that all these forms were clear and easy for visitors to the site to use. We spent a fair bit of time on this project reorganising and rewording forms to make them as easy to use as possible.
We tried to keep the forms as short and as compact as possible and there was a reason for this. Currently, Squarespace forms don't have the ability to be broken up into sections and each section saved as the user moves through the form. This is a feature I would like the platform to adapt at some point. If you needed to create longer forms with sections using Squarespace your best bet would be to use a third party form application and install it on your website. An option we considered for this website. However, on this occasion, we opted to optimise the form themselves instead of using a third-party tool.
This website also has a page of each member of the Bury Breakfast Club. We kept these simple, encouraging members to provide content for their page. The pages that work the best are the ones with nice images and pull quotes. These pages will change and be updated over time.
Google and SEO
We performed some standard on-site SEO on the website and also added the website to Google Webmaster Tools. We have now registered the network group with Google My Business. We are hoping to encourage the members of the network group to start adding blog posts to the website to add value to visitors and also help improve organic SEO ranking within search engines.
